ADVOCACY / BILL H.612 CAMPAIGN

Bill H.612 Campaign

Bill H.612 has arrived in the Senate with language from the House that threatens outdoor and mixed-use cultivators! Take a moment to urge legislators to protect growers and to include greater equity in the bill.

If you want outdoor cultivators in Vermont's adult-use marketplace, now is the time to speak up against sections 16 and 17 of Bill H.612. In addition to rejecting the harmful language threatening outdoor and mixed-use growers – our skillful brothers and sisters who are the cornerstone of the Vermont marketplace – we also ask lawmakers to listen to the VGA and the Vermont Cannabis Equity Coalition (link), and not independent lobbyists, to improve Bill H.612 to include greater equity in the bill – from public consumption to direct-sales, equity funding, expungement, THC reforms, and more. Below are a few items we want to change in Bill H.612.

  1. Reject sections 16 and 17, the proposed outdoor siting and setback language, the allowance for municipalities to establish cultivation districts, replace out-in with opt-out, and remove the proposed change allowing the CCB to limit retail licenses.

  2. Include THC cap reform, public consumption, farmers markets, funding for Social Equity and community reinvestment to help dismantle systemic racism, and reasonable product registration reform.

  3. Support the exemption for ag buildings used by licensed outdoor cannabis cultivators and the outdoor portion of mixed-use cultivators from the definition of “public building” subject to fire safety requirements, reform employment restrictions, and support and strengthen the prohibition on hemp-derived THC products.

If you are unfamiliar with Bill H.612 and all seventeen (17) of its policy sections, no problem! We have a breakdown and analysis of every section of the bill (link) – give it a read and share it with others.
