Education Director

The Education Director leads the planning, development, and implementation of all educational resources and outreach, assists the Events Director with event programming, and assists the Policy Director with policy development while working with other staff to build a healthy and vibrant organizational culture and support a just and equitable cannabis marketplace across the state. Specific Education Director responsibilities include:

  • Planning, developing, and implementing state and national educational resources, curriculum, media, and outreach, and assisting other staff, such as the development of educational legislative collateral.

  • Identifying VGA’s educational strategy and goals, and assisting the Events Director with annual events programming.

  • Committing to 4-8 hours each week, including a weekly 1-hour meeting.

  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of cannabis, and the latest trends and best practices in cannabis education and training.

  • Ensuring internal coordination for participation in educational resources development and outreach at all times, such as by reporting at required staff meetings and as necessary.

  • Working with organizational partners and networks.

  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director in developing and implementing VGA’s strategic plan.

  • Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by VGA for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to staff and committee meetings.

  • Contributing to an annual performance assessment and evaluation by the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director.

  • Assisting the Executive Director in identifying and recruiting other staff.

  • Partnering with the Executive Director, Assistant Executive Director, and other staff to ensure that the organization's purpose and mission are carried out.

  • Serving on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments.

  • Representing VGA to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization.

  • Ensuring VGA’s commitment to a diverse staff reflects the communities the organization serves.
